Organic Spices, Prosperous Farmers, Forested Landscapes

DOSELVA

Our mission is based on a triple-bottom line of people, profit and planet, all held equally. We are unapologetic about growing our revenue as a means to economic sustainability. Yet social impact achieved by the business amongst farmer families, Doselva staff, and our plant workers through just prices paid for product and living wages paid to workers is equally paramount. Finally, we believe (and will measure) that our economic growth as a business will act as an engine to enhance the health of the planet. Priority given to organic production methods and the use of agroforestry systems will enhance soil fertility, conserve water, and multiply the tree inventory in agriculture landscapes.

PROPAGATION, TRAINING CENTER, EXPERIMENTAL FARM AND PROCESSING PLANT

Doselva is committed to reducing barriers to entry for spice production by offering a domestic supply of high quality genetic material, and providing trainings in organic production methods, agroforestry system design and management. On its 25-acre farm in Diriamba, Doselva houses a propagation center, experimental farm currently with vanilla and turmeric production in agroforestry systems, and a training center. In July 2018, we will begin design and construction of a processing plant and warehouse for turmeric and vanilla.

Doselva uses an outgrower approach to integrate smallholder farmers into the Doselva value chain on a national level.    We currently work with over 200 farmers in four regions of Nicaragua, partnering with local non-profits and cooperatives for training, traceability, certification and harvest collection purposes.
